The Bucks County tax lists published in Volume XIII of the Third Series of the Published Pennsylvania Archives contain state, supply and funding tax lists for Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Specifically the tax lists include the State Tax for 1779, Supply Tax for 1781 and 1782, List of Taxables for 1783, Return of Land Tax of 1784, and Funding Tax for 1785, 1786 and 1787. Taxpayers are listed by township and often as in the case of the State and Funding Tax, the number of acres, horses, cattle, and servants are also itemized. The Land Return Tax of 1784 is a valuable compilation for the Bucks County genealogy researcher since not only are the number of dwellings and the acres per taxable recorded but also the number of white and black inhabitants are tallied. As a result, the Bucks County Land Return Tax of 1784 gives a census for Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Genealogy researchers interested in tracing their Bucks County ancestors during the 1780's will find this CD a valuable tool. (836 pp.)
